Dan D'Addio


Daniel D'Addio, DMA, is Music Director of the Connecticut Youth Symphony, Artistic Director of the Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra, Music Director of the Classic Brass Band, and has been recently appointed as Music Director of Capitol Symphonic Winds. From 1990 until 2010, D'Addio served as Music Director of the Greater Hartford Youth Wind Ensemble, from 2000 until 2006 as Conductor of the Hartford Pops Band, and from 1990 until 1994 as Music Director of both the University of Bridgeport Civic Wind Ensemble and Civic Orchestra. He has guest conducted the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Hartford Opera Theater, the Connecticut Valley Chamber Orchestra, as well as numerous middle school and high school music festivals throughout the Northeast United States. Also, he has served as conductor of both the band and orchestra at Laurel Music Camp and as Band Director at New England Music Camp. In addition to his conducting activities, D'Addio remains active as a trumpet soloist and chamber musician. D'Addio holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Michigan, a Master of Music degree from Ohio State University, and the Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Hartford's The Hartt School. He has also studied at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz and Vienna, Austria, and the Scola Cantorum in Basel, Switzerland, as a Fulbright Scholar. D'Addio currently serves as Professor of Music at Central Connecticut State University. Daniel D'Addio is a Yamaha Performing Artist and a Wedge Mouthpiece Endorsing Artist.
